強刺球屬，原產墨西哥。植株初始為短圓筒形，長大後呈短圓柱狀。體色青綠色，表皮堅厚。直徑30cm左右，高可達80~100cm，具13個脊高且薄的稜，稜峰上的刺座大又突出。白色剛毛狀的側刺10~12枚，中刺4枚，中間1枚主刺呈扁錐形，有環紋，末端具鉤。新刺紅褐色，老刺褐灰色。花黃色，有發達旺盛的雄蕊。

A Ferocactus plant, native to Mexico. Plant short and barrel-shaped initially and becoming cylindrical with age. Body turquoise, skin thick. About 30 cm in diameter, 80-100 cm long, with 13 high and thin ridges. Areoles located on the ridge peaks, large and protruding, radial spines about 12, bristle-like, central spines 4 with one main spine flat-conical with a ring pattern and hooked. New spines reddish brown and old spines brownish gray. Flowers yellow with vigorous stamens.

栽培：全日照通風環境下可生長良好，日照充足時可增進生長速度、促進開花。為防止爛根等情形，需採用排水透氣的介質。每季施用一次長效性肥料。介質乾燥才澆水。約兩年換盆一次。繁殖使用播種法。

The plant grows well under full-sun and ventilated environments; sufficient sunlight can promote the growth and flowering. Use well-drained and breathable medium to avoid rotten roots and other problems. Apply long-active fertilizers once a season. Water only when the medium dries. Repotting every two years. Propagated by seeds.

豪邁雄壯的刺，是強刺類仙人掌的觀賞重點，但就因為這樣刺特別危險，因此多用單盆種植的應用方式，且擺放在比較觸摸不到的地方，以維護安全。

Its rugged spines are the highlights of Ferocactus cacti. However, the spines are extremely dangerous, advised to plant in single pots and kept in inaccessible places for safety reason.
