強刺球屬多肉植物，原產美國西南部至墨西哥。單生桶狀，高可達高2m，直徑30cm，外皮綠色，18~27條稜。刺座白色；中刺4~7支，長5~15cm，彎曲；側刺15~25支，如堅硬毛髮。花黃色或黃綠色，直徑4~6cm。春、夏之際開花。

A Ferocactus succulent plant, native from the southwestern United States to Mexico.A solitary and cylindrical plant, up to 2 m tall, 30 cm in diameter, outer skin green, 18 to 27 ridges. Areoles are white and bear 4-7 curved central spines, 5-15cm long; 15-25 radials like hard hair. Flowers yellow or yellow-green, 4 - 6 cm in diameter. It blooms in spring and summer.

栽培：全日照通風環境下可生長良好，日照充足可增進刺的色彩。夏季烈日曝曬有可能引起曬傷，要注意防範。為了防止爛根等情形，需採用排水透氣的介質，介質肥沃可以促進生長。耐寒性強，成株經過低溫刺激會容易開花。

It can grow well under full-sun and ventilated environments. Sufficient sun exposure can promote flowering, however, exposure in high summer may cause signs of scorch, such as sunburn. Use draining and breathable soil to avoid root rotting; fertilized soil can promote the growth. Highly cold-tolerant, the adult ones easily bloom with low temperature stimulation.
