伽藍菜屬多肉植物，原產於馬達加斯加島。植株具短莖，肉質對生寬卵形葉，長6~15cm，寬4~7cm，鋸齒狀缺刻，葉緣呈紅色。當植株長到一定大小時，葉腋處會抽出細而長的走莖，走莖末端的新生葉片宛如蝴蝶而得名。花白色至粉紅色，冬季開花。

A succulent of the genus Kalanchoe, native to Madagascar. Stem short; leaves opposite, fleshy, broad and ovate, 6-15 cm in length, 4-7 cm in width, incised, and tinged red on the margin. When the plant grows up, a thin and long stolon is drawn from the leaf axils. The new leaves borne at the terminal of stolon resemble butterflies and that’s how its Chinese name comes. Flower white to pink and blooming in winter.

栽培：全日照環境下可生長良好。全日照時葉片硬挺有生氣，半日照時葉片大且薄。選擇排水透氣的介質。走莖質地脆，可折下走莖末端的芽直接種植即可。

The plant grows well under full-sun environments. The leaves grow upright and brisk with full sun exposure and become large and thin under partial sunlight conditions. Draining and breathable soil is recommended. They can be easily propagated by plucking the terminal buds from the stolon and plant directly.

葉片造型美觀，但因為大型平展，較少使用於組合設計。走莖饒富趣味，適合用較高的盆器或使用吊盆栽培以欣賞長伸走莖上的幼苗。

The leaves are ornamental but rarely presented along with other plants because the large size and spreading shape. The walking stolon adds interests of the plant and is suitable to plant in tall pots or hanging pots to appreciate the young plants on the creeping stolons.
