龍血樹屬常綠灌木，原產非洲東部熱帶至亞熱帶森林。莖直立，通常於基部分枝，樹高可達15m。長披針形葉片螺旋生長於莖端成為簇生狀，葉長20~150cm、寬5~12cm，葉面光澤，原種綠色，園藝栽培多為葉中央淺綠色至黃色的斑葉品種。圓錐花序常下垂，花徑約1cm，夜間開花有濃郁芳香。橙紅色漿果直徑1~2cm。開花期夏至秋季。

An evergreen shrub in the genus Dracaena, native to tropical to subtropical forests in eastern Africa. Stem erect, usually branched from the stem base, up to 15m high. Long lanceolate leaves arranged spirally at the stem base in clusters, 20-150cm long and 5-12cm wide, glossy. The parent species are green while most cultivars are variegated with light green to yellow markings in the center of leaves. Panicles often drooping, flower diameter 1cm, blooming at night with a strong fragrance. Berries orange-red, 1~2cm in diameter. Flowering from summer to autumn.

半日照環境，全日照栽培需經馴化以免葉片曬傷。介質需排水良好，澆水頻率不宜過於頻繁，以免根部腐爛蔓延至莖部，造成葉片枯黃凋萎。每季施用一次長效性綜合肥料。繁殖使用扦插、播種法。

The plant prefers warm and partial-sun environments and needs to be acclimated to prevent sunburn if cultivated in full-sun positions. Choose well-drained medium and water in moderate frequency to prevent the roots rotting and spreading to the stems as well as causing the leaves to yellow and wither. Apply a slow-release compound fertilizer once a season. Propagated from cutting and seeding.
