文心蘭是分佈於中、南美洲的蘭花，中文名是屬名Oncidium的發音。亮黃色的小花朵是文心蘭給人的第一印象，遠看整片花輕盈律動，近看每朵小花像極了穿著蓬蓬裙正在跳舞的少女，因此也有「跳舞蘭」的別名。其實文心蘭不只有黃色，還有白、橘、紅色等多樣花色，有些品種有像甜點香味，放在室內美化，不僅美觀還有讓人愉悅的芳香。

Oncidium is distributed in Central and South America. The Chinese name comes from the pronunciation of the genus Oncidium. The small bright yellow flowers are the first impression of Oncidium to people. It is pleasant to watch the flowers swinging lightly and rhythmically from a distance and when looking up close, each flower looks like a girl dancing in a tutu, so it also has the alias "dancing orchid." The color palette of Oncidium is not only yellow, but also white, orange, red and others. Some varieties even have dessert-like scents which are used as aromatic plants to beautify the indoor spaces.

蘭科文心蘭屬多年生草本，原生種約300餘種，分佈於中、南美洲。複莖著生蘭，有卵形、紡錘形、圓形或扁圓形的假球莖。園藝依照葉型可分為厚葉系、具假球莖厚葉系、具假球莖薄葉系、扇形葉系及棒狀葉系等五類。每個假球莖有1~3片葉。花瓣6枚，通常有寬大的脣瓣，脣瓣基部有瘤狀物為辨別的特徵。部份種類有香味。

A perennial herb in the genus Oncidium, with more than 300 original species distributed in Central and South America. This is a multi-stemmed epiphytic orchid with ovoid, spindle-shaped, round or oblate pseudobulbs. The cultivars can be divided in five categories: thick leaves, thick leaves with pseudobulbs, thin leaves with pseudobulbs, fan-shaped leaves and rod-shaped leaves. Each pseudobulb bears 1 to 3 leaves. 6 petals, lips broad, with nodules at the base which is a distinctive feature. Some varieties are fragrant.

喜全日照或半日照溫暖環境。通常葉片薄的種類適合半日照，葉片厚的則需要充足日照。介質使用蛇木屑、水苔、椰纖、樹皮等透氣性疏鬆材料，乾就須澆水；厚葉種類能較耐旱。繁殖使用分株法。

The plant likes full-sun or partial-sun and warm environment. Typically, the thin-leaf varieties suitably grow with partial sunlight, while those with thick leaves require sufficient sunshine. It can be grown in tree fern chips, moss, coconut fiber, bark and other air-permeable loose materials for cultivation, and needs watered when the medium dries; the thick-leaf species are more drought-tolerant. Reproduction from ramets.

文心蘭又稱跳舞蘭，因其唇瓣特化成一大片，有如跳舞女郎的裙子而聞名。開花繁盛、花色明亮，是優質的盆花與切花材料。

Also known as dancing orchid because its lips specialize into a large piece which resembles the skirt of a dancing girl. The flowers are prosperous and brightly colored, they are high-quality materials for potted flowers and cut flowers.
