虎尾蘭屬多肉植物，原產南非。根莖與葉片多肉質。根莖橫生，互生3~4片或更多葉叢生於短莖上。圓柱形葉，先端銳尖，長40~150cm，寬約3cm，直立或略彎曲；葉面暗綠色，有灰綠色虎紋斑。總狀花序，花白綠色有芳香味，開花期春季。

A succulent plant of the genus Sansevieria, native to South Africa. Both rhizomes and leaves fleshy, rhizomes horizontal, 3 to 4 or more alternative leaves on shorter stems. Leaves cylindrical, tip sharp-pointed, 40 - 150 cm long, 3 cm wide, erect or slightly bent; leaf surface dark green, with gray-green tiger stripes. Racemes, flowers aromatic, white and green, flowering in spring.

全日照或半日照環境，室內窗邊可以短期擺放欣賞。生長強健，排水透氣的介質均可生長良好。高溫期生長較迅速，可觀察介質乾就澆水，並施用鉀比例較高的肥料。繁殖可使用葉插或分株法。

The plant favors full sun or partial sun environment and can be placed beside window sills for short-term appreciation. Adapt to all types of draining and breathable soil. A summer grower, water when the soil appears dry and apply long-active fertilizer with higher potassium content. Propagated by leaf cuttings or ramets.

葉片造型特殊具有觀賞價值，可數株叢植於盆內，置於室內明亮處欣賞葉片線條。近年有選育出葉片短的品種，觀賞價值更高。葉片內有堅韌的纖維，可用來製作繩索。
