強刺球屬多肉植物，原產墨西哥。幼株球形，成株桶形。高30~200cm，直徑30~60cm，15~21條稜。刺座棕色，中刺長可達25cm，5~9支側刺。淺黃色花直徑5~7.5cm，開花期夏季。

A Ferocactus succulent native to Mexico. Young plants are spherical and then grow into barrels. 30 - 200 cm in height, 30 - 60 cm in diameter, 15 - 21 ridges. Areole brown, with 25 cm long central spines,and 5-9 radials. Flowers light yellow, 5- 7.5 cm in diameter and bloom in summer.

栽培：全日照通風環境下可生長良好，日照充足時可促進開花。炎夏時切勿讓植株曝曬與表皮淋水，以免產生日燒等跡象。為了防止爛根等情形，需採用排水透氣的介質。高溫期生長，寒流來襲時要控水管理。

The plant favors full sun and good ventilation. Sun exposure can promote flowering, however, it should be sheltered from sun exposure and rains in high summer to avoid sunburn. Plant in draining and breathable soil to avoid root rotting. Grow well in summer, control watering in freezing winters.

園藝栽培的仙人掌中刺最長的種類，因具有危險性，栽培應放置於不易觸碰的位置。

The species has the longest spines among cactus cultivars, so it should be planted in a place that is not easy to touch.
