金鯱屬多肉植物，原產美國南部至墨西哥。植株筒狀，高20cm，直徑30cm或更大，有6~7條稜。刺座大，中刺扁有鉤，側刺6~7枚。本種是刺略成不規則捲曲的園藝品種。花白色至粉紅色，花徑5~6cm。球形至卵球形果實，果熟紅色。

A succulent of the genus Echinocactus, native to the southern United States to Mexico. Stem tubular, 20 cm high, at least 30 cm in diameter, with 6 - 7 ridges. Large areoles with flat and hooked central spines and 6 -7 radials. This species is a cultivar with slightly irregular curled spines. Flowers white to pink, 5 – 6 cm in diameter. Fruits spherical to ovoid, ripe red.

栽培：全日照通風環境下可生長良好，日照充足時可促進開花。為了防止爛根等情形，需採用排水透氣的介質。本種高溫期生長，於夏季觀察到介質乾透時澆水，低溫期休眠，耐寒性強，寒流來時不必澆水。

The plant grows well with full sun and good ventilation. Sufficient sun exposure can promote flowering. Draining and breathable soil required to avoid root rotting. A summer grower, watering only when the medium is dried out in summer. Cold-tolerant and dormant in winter, no water use required when cold currents come.

欣賞刺的園藝品種，新生的刺紅色至粉紅色，全株棘刺豪邁粗曠，以單獨種植擺放欣賞為主。由於刺具有危險性，須慎防幼兒、寵物靠近。果實可以食用。

This cultivar is particularly valued for the appealing spines. Newly borne spines are tinged with red to pink. The whole plant bears hard spines with a bold and rustic feel, mainly planting alone for appreciation. It’s advised to keep children and pets away from the dangerous spines. The fruit is edible.
