緬梔屬的落葉喬木，原產中美洲至南美洲北部。枝幹肉質化，富含乳汁，枝呈鹿角狀二或三叉分枝。互生橢圓形葉片聚生於枝梢，葉先端銳尖。聚繖花序頂生，花冠5裂，有芳香味。花後結一對長梭形的蓇葖果，內有具翅的種子。開花結果夏至秋季。

A deciduous tree in the genus Plumeria, native from Central America to the north of South America. The branches are succulent, rich in latex, staghorn-shaped and bifurcate to 2 or 3 forks. The alternate elliptical leaves are clustered at shoot tips, and sharp on the apex. Terminal cymose, corolla 5-lobed, with fragrance. A pair of long fusiform capsules containing winged seeds. Flowering and fruiting in summer to autumn.

需要充足日照，日照不足開花稀少。耐旱力強亦稍耐貧瘠。根系淺但範圍較大，栽種植穴需寬廣。生長緩慢、樹形規律，一般不須進行修剪。播種、扦插法繁殖。
