海州常山屬落葉灌木，原產新幾內亞至菲律賓。根部容易萌發根蘗。對生橢圓形至倒卵形。葉面綠色，葉背紫紅色。聚繖花序頂生，筒狀花基部紫紅色，白色花冠5裂，有香味。果實紫黑色。開花冬至春季。

A deciduous shrub in the genus Clerodendrum, native from New Guinea to the Philippines. Likely to develops suckers from the base of roots. Leaves are opposite and elliptical to obovate. Green on the leaf front and reddish purple on the underside. Terminal cymose, disk-shaped flower with reddish purple base, white corolla with 5 lobes and scented. Fruits are ripe purple black. Flowering from winter to spring.
