圓柏屬常綠針葉樹，有喬木或灌木兩種型態，臺灣特有種。樹幹圓柱形，主枝長而下垂，小枝則呈斜向上昇。針形葉3枚交叉輪生，約0.5cm長，表面白色，背面綠色。雌雄異株或偶而同株，闊卵形的雄花近似葇荑花序，雌花綠色，開花期春夏之際。果球形或橢圓形，成熟黑色。

An evergreen coniferous tree or shrub in the genus Juniperus, endemic to Taiwan. Trunk cylindrical, limbs long and decumbent, twigs ascending. Needle leaves in whorls of three, 0.5 cm long, white above and green below. Dioecious or occasionally monoecious, male flowers broad-ovate and catkin-like, female flowers green, flowering from spring and summer. Fruit spherical or oval, mature black.

喜冷涼氣候，耐寒、耐旱、耐風、耐貧瘠，全日照。以種子或扦插繁殖。

It prefers cold climates with full sun; tolerant to cold, drought, wind, and barrenness. Propagated by seeds or cuttings.

臺灣生長海拔最高的樹種之一，適合高冷地環境。可作庭園景觀樹、盆景。果可誘鳥。木材緻密且香味濃郁，可作為線香之原料。

As one of the highest-altitude conifers of the island, it suitably grows in alpine cold regions. It can be used as a garden landscape tree and bonsai plant. The fruits are attractive to birds. The densely-grained and fragrant wood can be used to make incense.
