臺灣特有種常綠喬木，分佈於中高海拔山區。光滑的鐮刀形葉片排列像梳子，枝條最前端常常3個新芽同時長出，因此又名臺灣三尖杉。因外形與珍貴的紅豆杉相近，常被誤認砍伐。種子橢圓核果狀，是松鼠與鳥類等動物的最愛，人也可以食用，但風味不如原產於安徽、浙江的同類植物「香榧」。木材質地緻密，可用作建築及家具材料。

Taiwan Cow's-Tail Pine is an evergreen tree endemic to Taiwan, distributed in high-altitude mountainous areas. The smooth falcate leaves are arranged like combs, and three new buds often grow simultaneously at the branch end, hence it Chinese alias “sanjianshan”. Because of the similar appearance to the precious Taiwan Yew, Taiwan Cow's-Tail Pine is often mistaken and felled. The oval and drupe-shaped seeds are the favorite of animals such as squirrels and birds. The seeds are also edible for humans, but the flavor is not as good as its cousin Chinese nutmeg yew which is native to Anhui and Zhejiang province in China. The densely-grained wood can be used as building and furniture materials.

三尖杉屬常綠喬木，臺灣特有種。樹皮暗紅褐色，常呈薄片狀剝落；樹枝擴展斜昇狀。葉線形或線狀披針形，略呈鐮刀狀，排成2列，近似對生，葉緣略反捲，下表面具兩條灰白色之闊氣孔帶。雌雄異株或同株；雄花序多枚整齊排列於小枝葉腋的兩側，球形或長球形；雌花序有長柄，單生；花期6~7月。種子核果狀，橢圓形或倒卵狀橢圓形；外種皮肉質，初綠，成熟時粉狀帶紫褐色色澤；果期8~11月。

An evergreen tree in the genus Cephalotaxus, endemic to Taiwan. Bark dark reddish-brown, often fall off in thin flakes; branches rising obliquely. Leaves linear or linear-lanceolate, slightly falcate-shaped, arranged in two nearly opposite rows, leaf margin slightly recurved, with two grayish white stomatic bands beneath. Dioecious or monoecious; male inflorescences spherical or oblong, arranged neatly along the both sides the leaf axils on branchlets; female inflorescences have long stems, solitary; flowering from June to July. Seed drupe-like, oval or obovate oval; exocarp fleshy, initially green, powdery tinged purple-brown when mature; fruiting from August to November.

喜冷涼，全日照環境。可種子繁殖，但發芽不易；可用扦插繁殖。

The plant grows well in cold, cool and full sun environment. It can be propagated by seeds, but less likely to germinate; or by cuttings.

可作園景觀樹。木材淡黃褐色，結構緻密，極為優良，可供建築、傢俱、農用器具等用材，亦可作薪炭材。枝葉可入藥。

The plant can be grown as garden landscape tree. The light yellow-brown wood is tight and dense and a high-quality material for construction, furniture, agricultural appliances etc. It can also be used to make charcoal. The branches and leaves are medicinal.
