柿樹屬常綠或落葉灌木，原產中國華南沿海地區、臺灣、菲律賓。樹皮黑色，嫩枝、葉有毛。互生橢圓形葉，新生嫩葉紅褐色。雌雄異株，壺形花開於葉腋，花冠4裂。果實圓或圓錐形，成熟時紫黑色。開花夏季，結果秋至冬季。

An evergreen or deciduous shrub in the genus Diospyros, native to littoral areas of South China, Taiwan, and the Philippines. It grows black bark; young shoots and leaves are hairy. Alternate elliptical leaves. New leaves are reddish brown. Dioecious; pot-shaped flowers bloom in leaf axils; 4-lobed corolla. The fruit is round or conical in shape and ripe purple black. Flowering in summer and fruiting from autumn to winter.

全日照溫暖環境。耐旱性強。每季施用一次長效性綜合肥料。生長緩慢，不宜做大幅度修剪，日常修剪去除樹冠內的不良枝以及過度長伸的徒長枝維持樹形。繁殖使用播種法。
