毛蕊木屬常綠喬木，原產菲律賓呂宋島與臺灣蘭嶼、綠島。主幹直挺，分枝斜伸或略下垂。互生革質倒卵形或橢圓形葉有光澤。雌雄異株，近枝端腋生聚繖花序，白色花筒狀，雄花花藥先端與基部有毛，即毛蕊木名稱由來。雌花常無花瓣。橙黃色核果長橢圓形。春季花，春至夏季結果。

An evergreen tree in the genus Gomphandra, native to Luzon Island of the Philippines and Lanyu and Green Island of Taiwan. Trunk is straight and twigs are inclined or slightly drooping. Alternate leathery obovate or oval leaves are glossy. Flowers are dioecious with cymes borne in axils close to the end of branches. White tubular flower; male flower anther is pubescent in apex and basal, while female flowers often have no petals. It produces orange-yellow drupe in a long oval shape. Flowering in spring and fruiting from spring to summer.

全日照溫暖環境，成株具耐旱性，生長於濱海地區，可忍受強風。修剪以剪除細弱枝為主。每季施用一次長效性肥料。繁殖使用播種法。
