赫蕉屬多年生草本，原產中美洲至南美洲西北部。原種苞片橘紅色，本種是橘黃色苞片的園藝品種。株高1.5~4m。地下有根莖。葉柄1~2m聚成假莖，橢圓形葉長0.5~1.5m、寬20~40cm。穗狀花序有螺旋狀排列的橘黃色苞片，苞片末端或形成綠色葉片，花黃綠色，夏季開花。

全日照或半日照溫暖環境，高濕度可以促進生長。壤土或砂質壤土種植。介質乾或觀察葉片略包捲就澆水。春至秋每季施用一次長效性綜合肥料。老化植株隨時修剪。繁殖使用分株法。

A perennial herb in the genus Heliconia, native to Central America to northwestern South America. The bracts of parent species are orange-red and while that of this cultivar are orange-yellow. Plant height 1.5~4m with underground rhizomes. Petioles 1~2m long and clumped into pseudostems. Leaf oval, 0.5~1.5m long and 20~40cm wide. Spadix, orange-yellow bracts spirally arranged along the yellow rachis, and green leaves grown on the end of bracts. Flowers yellow-green, blooming in summer.
