吊蘭屬多年生草本，原產東非。肉質根肥大，莖短縮。披針形或劍狀披針形葉，全緣或波狀緣，葉柄橙黃色或金黃色是最顯著的特徵。穗狀花序，花白色。扁圓形蒴果，有三稜。

A perennial herb in the genus Chlorophytum, native to East Africa. Fleshy roots swollen and stem shortened. Leaves lanceolate or sword-shaped lanceolate, margin entire or undulate, the orange yellow or golden yellow petiole is the most distinctive feature. Spikes, flowers white. Capsules oblate, with three ribs.

種植於半日照時葉色最美，喜高溫、潮濕環境，介質需排水良好且富含有機質。冬季要溫暖，種植位置要避寒風，以免葉緣枯焦。以種子繁殖或分株繁殖。

Planted in partial-sun for the most desired leaf color; a grower of heat, humidity and well drained medium rich in organic matter. Not cold hardy, a leeward location is required to prevent the leaf margins from browning. Propagated from seeds or ramets.

葉柄色彩鮮明，植株葉叢茂密。可作遮蔭地的庭園地被植物；也適合盆栽，放置於室內窗邊明亮處。葉可當插花材料。

Valued for the bright-colored petioles and dense foliage, it’s a great groundcover in shades, also an ornamental potted houseplant grown on a windowsill. The leaves can be used for flower arrangement.
