擬美花屬常綠灌木，原產大洋洲。對生橢圓形至卵形革質葉，葉緣波浪狀，葉色深綠有紫色斑紋。園藝品種有黃、白、紫紅等葉色斑紋變化。穗狀花序自枝端開出，高腳碟形花，紫色或白色花冠5裂，有紫色斑紋。開花期夏至秋季。

An evergreen shrub in the genus Pseuderanthemum, native to Oceania. Oppositely arranged elliptical to ovate leathery leaves, undulate on the edge, dark green with purple markings. Horticultural varieties have a wide diversity of colors - yellow, white, purple and other variegated colors. Spikes extend from the end of branches. Saucer-shaped flowers, five-lobed purple or white corolla with purple markings. Flowering from summer to autumn.

全日照溫暖至高溫環境，不耐寒，臺灣北部栽培冬季寒流或有落葉休眠現象。介質需排水良好，略具耐旱性。春至秋季每季施用一次長效性綜合肥料。繁殖使用扦插法。

Grown in full-sun, warm to hot climates, not cold-tolerant. It will be dormant or deciduous if planted in northern Taiwan during severe winter. Cultivated in well-drained medium and slightly drought tolerant. Apply long-active compound fertilizers once every season from spring to autumn. Propagated by cuttings.

熱帶地區重要的觀葉與觀花灌木，有多種葉色變化，適合多株密植為灌叢或列植為綠籬。耐污染、高溫，可種植於道路旁作為色彩綠帶。盆栽可使用直徑7寸以上的盆器種植，並進行更頻繁的修剪以矮化植株。

An important foliage and flowering ornamental shrub in the tropics, valued for its variegated colors, suitable for cluster planting as shrubs or row planting as hedges. Resistant to pollution and heat, could be planted on roadside as a colorful green belt or planting in a pot larger than 7 inches in diameter but requiring frequent trimming to dwarf the plants.
