榕屬常綠喬木，原產南亞至東南亞。樹冠厚重濃密，有發達氣生根。互生革質橢圓形葉，葉面深綠光亮。托葉深紅色。橢圓形隱頭花序成對生於葉腋，成熟黃綠色。雄花、雌花、癭花同生於隱頭花序內。開花結果於冬季。

An evergreen tree in the genus Ficus, native to South Asia and Southeast Asia. The crown grows thick and dense; the trunk develops prosperous aerial roots. Alternate leathery oval leaves are dark and glossy. The stipules are dark red. An oval cryptic inflorescence is borne in pairs in leaf axils, ripe yellow green. Both male and female flowers as well as gall flowers are borne in the cryptic inflorescence. Flower and fruiting in winter.

全日照溫暖環境。可隨時修剪過密枝與長伸的枝條，以控制樹形並減輕枝條荷重。一般不需要施肥。繁殖採用扦插與空中壓條。

Warm and full-sun environment. Prune crowded and stretching branches at any time to maintain the shape as well as to reduce the load on the branches. Generally, no need to fertilize. Propagation is carried out by cuttings and air layering.

樹冠開闊，適合種植於公園、學校等有空間開闊的地方作為遮蔭樹。另有斑葉種葉色美觀，常作為觀葉植物。傷口會分泌乳汁，可以製作橡膠。但因膠乳對眼睛與皮膚有刺激性且品質、產量不如大戟科的橡膠樹，因此少有使用。

The tree produces a broad crown, suitable to plant in parks, campus and other open locations as shade trees. A variety with variegated foliage is often used as an ornamental. When the bark is partially cut through, the cut wound exudes a milky liquid which can be made into rubber. However, the liquid is irritative to the eyes and skin; and the quality and yield of latex is less desirable than that of the Eucalyptus, as a result, it is rarely used for that purpose.
