柿樹屬常綠灌木或小喬木，原產南亞、東南亞、臺灣至琉球濱海地區。樹皮黑色。互生倒卵形革質葉片，葉先端凹入。雌雄異株，雄花多朵簇生，雌花單生，皆開於葉腋。壺形花冠3裂。漿果橢圓形，成熟時黃橘色或紅色。開花冬至春季，結果夏季。

An evergreen shrub or small tree in the genus Diospyros, native to South Asia, Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Ryukyu littoral area. It produces black bark, opposite obovate leathery foliage with concave in the apex. Dioecious, with clustered axillary male flowers and axillary solitary female flowers. Pot-shaped corolla 3-lobed. Oval berries are ripe yellowish-orange or red. Flowering from winter to spring and fruiting in summer.

全日照溫暖環境。具有耐旱性。每季施用一次長效性綜合肥料。萌芽力強，耐修剪，但因生長緩慢，通常只修剪徒長枝與樹冠內的交叉枝等不良枝。播種法繁殖。

Full-sun and warm environment. Drought tolerant. Apply long-active compound fertilizers once every season. With high germination potential, it’s resilient to pruning. But it grows slowly, advise to only prune defective branches such as water sprouts and crossing ones in the crown. Propagated by seeding.

原生於濱海地區，能耐風、耐旱適合做濱海地區景觀綠美化使用。單植、多株叢植或列植為綠籬都是普遍的應用方式。果實美觀，能吸引鳥類取食。在市場上常被叫做黑檀，因為心材黑色或有黑色紋路而著名。

Indigenous to littoral areas so it can withstand wind and tolerate drought and serve for landscape greening in littoral areas. Single planting, cluster planting or row planting as hedgerows are common applications. Fruits are pretty and attractive to birds. It’s often called black ebony in the market for the black heartwood or black stripes in the heartwood.
